Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka è stato intervistato alle "Finali Europee di PES" e ha rilasciato le seguenti dichiarazioni in merito alle novità relative al gioco della Konami, PES2009 : "Quest'anno abbiamo visto l'online come priorità maggiore e abbiamo testato questa in tutto il mondo, così che vada bene per le persone che non hanno buone connessioni ricercando con il fine di renderlo comunque giocabile... abbiamo trovato una soluzione che permette di giocare da uno a quattro giocatori online."

La software house Konami ha svelato ulteriori dettagli riguardo la simulazione calcistica sviluppata in multipiattaforma e prevista solo per console Nintendo Wii nella prossima primavera: Pro Evolution Soccer 09. La versione per Wii sarà molto intuitiva, simile a quella dell'anno precedente, sarà infatti possibile tramite un interfaccia, controllare sia il giocatore in possesso di palla, sia gli altri players sparsi per il campo di gioco. Sarà applicato anche il classico e tradizionale sistema di controllo utilizzando un telecomando Wii Classic Controller . Restiamo in attesa di ulteriori informazioni. New AI, more control and modes galore as PES 2009 warms up for Wii
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has revealed key gameplay additions to its forthcoming PES 2009 title for Wii. Scheduled for release in Spring 2009, the new game will retain the intuitive ‘point and click’ interface used to control both the player in possession of the ball and to send those around him on to runs into space. However, a new ‘traditional’ control system using either a Wii Remote or Classic controller has also been implemented.

Producer Akiyoshi ‘Greyhound’ Chosogabe detailed his plans for the new game at a special event in Rome:

A New Level of Control: Players will once again point and drag team mates into space to make runs, but Greyhound and his team has worked to improve the movement and level of control available to the player.

An improved defense system will allow players to close down their opposition with more precision using the Z button, while a new targeting system sees the player steering where they place the ball when shooting. Coupled with better AI for the CPU-controlled players and opposition, the result is a more free-flowing and faster paced simulation. Set pieces have also been reworked, with more precision on free kicks and a wider range of corners than in the previous game.

Co-Operative Play: Greyhound is keen to emphasise the teamwork ethos of the PES series, and has added a second control system for co-op play. One player will use the familiar Nunchuck and Wii Remote system to control their player and drag players into space, with the second adopting a more traditional PES controller to control individual players.

Using a Wii Remote held sideways or a classic controller, the secondary player can control the game in a manner familiar to existing versions of PES for other formats. Thus, they can control using familiar PES controls while their co-op player orchestrates their player and the rest of the team using the bespoke Wii system.

Additional Modes: In keeping with versions for other formats, PES 2009 for Wii will also feature the UEFA Champions League, the addition of the ever-popular Master League for the first time on this format plus the return of an enhanced Champions Road competition, an enhanced Edit Mode, more online gameplay possibilities, and a Mii Training sub-game system.

PES 2009 will be released for Wii in Spring 2009. Please note that some elements are subject to change before launch.

Il primo aggiornamento ha inizio a Novembre

La software house Konami ha ufficialmente annunciato il primo update per PES 09 scaricabile gratuitamente intorno ai primi di Novembre con cui verranno implementate nuove licenze, saranno aggiornate le squadre e gli elementi in gioco. Il download sarà disponibile tra circa tre settimane e sarà gratuito per le console di gioco PlayStation3 e Xbox360. Da come afferma la software house Konami, l'aggiornamento implementerà alcune squadre spagnole, che nella versione attuale non sono registrate con licenza come il Siviglia, L'Atletico Madrid il Santander e il Vallaloid, inoltre saranno aggiornati i ruoli e i trasferimenti dei giocatori, sia nei vari campionati, sia nel torneo europeo Uefa Champion League. Non ci resta che attendere con trepidazione il rilascio di questo primo aggiornamento. Di seguito il comunicato ufficiale:


As Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH’s PES 2009 hits stores today for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD, the publisher has announced a free downloadable update for early November, expanding upon the games licensed teams and in-game elements.

The download will be available in about three weeks, and updates four Spanish sides – Athletico Madrid, Sevilla, Racing Santander and Valladolid, – all of whom will be officially licensed. Furthermore, it will also update the kits and team rosters of many teams within the game. The UEFA Champions League mode will also benefit from the new update, with twelve more teams added to the club list, with proper UEFA Champions League kits and kit markings added. Amongst the teams fully updated within this mode now will be Marseille, Juventus, and Basel.

The new raft of additions further demonstrate Konami’s commitment to expanding the licence roster in the PES series. Every aspect of PES 2009 has been reworked from the ground up, with new player models, AI elements and physics routines all combining to create the most advanced and realistic football game ever. The game also includes new Become a Legend and Legends mode, wherein players guide one player within a team either solo or online. Expanding upon this, the update also adds a new Theatre of Legends function which allows users to upload replay data for friends to view, and to view those of others.

The PES series has always been famed for its deep yet accessible control system, but the new game is aiming even higher. PES 2009 offers an unprecedented level of control, redefining the intricacies of first touch, close control and ball distribution, while also enhancing its shooting and AI mechanisms to create an all-round footballing experience. New control systems wherein the player can now perform tricks and feints without the use of special moves have been implemented, and the way the player guides the ball has been changed. The PES series has always treated the ball as a separate entity, but new calculations related to the air resistance and friction of the ground make passing and movement in PES 2009 a great deal more realistic.

“PES 2009 is already a million seller in pre-orders alone, but these new additions show how we are determined to continually improve the content of the game,” commented Jon Murphy PES European Team Leader for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “We hope the updated team data and new UEFA Champions League elements will show our ongoing support for PES 2009’s team rosters, and look to continually enhancing such sections in the coming year at no extra cost.”
