Authorities in Santa Ana, California, are investigating a significant theft involving a FedEx truck parked near the headquarters of Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA). On October 13, thieves managed to break into the vehicle during a 60 to 90-minute window, making off with several pallets of high-value collectibles.
The Santa Ana Police Department reported that the stolen items included approximately 150 packages spread across three pallets. While the first two pallets are valued at roughly $963,000, the total loss is expected to surpass $1 million once the value of the third pallet is fully assessed. The stolen goods consist of various trading cards, including Pokémon and various sports cards.
The incident gained widespread attention within the collecting community after several individuals reported receiving notifications from PSA regarding the breach. One collector, using the handle SKY-B, expressed concern on social media regarding the disappearance of cards valued at over $100,000 that had been submitted for grading.
In response to the heist, PSA has stated it will work closely with law enforcement and FedEx to resolve the matter. The company has pledged to compensate affected customers based on the fair market value of their items, up to the maximum insured value selected for each piece. Additionally, PSA has deactivated the certificates for the stolen items to prevent fraudulent use.
FedEx has also issued a statement confirming its cooperation with local police as part of the ongoing investigation. Law enforcement officials are currently working to determine the exact value of all stolen goods and are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Santa Ana Police Department.
