HBO has officially confirmed the release date and unveiled a new trailer for its upcoming documentary project titled The Slightest Touch. Directed and produced by Rachel Fleit, the feature centres on a unique story of friendship forged in the face of severe adversity, pairing actor Colin Farrell with Emma Fogarty. Following its initial premiere at the BFI London Film Festival in the United Kingdom, the documentary is scheduled to become available for streaming on HBO Max starting Thursday, 26 November.
The narrative of the film traces the life of Emma Fogarty, who was born with Epidermolysis Bullosa, an exceptionally rare and debilitating condition that causes the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch. Despite medical expectations that she would not survive past the age of twenty, Fogarty has spent her life defying odds. As she reaches her milestone fortieth birthday, she and her longtime friend Colin Farrell undertake the extraordinary challenge of completing the Dublin Marathon together.
According to the production details, Farrell completed the full marathon distance before joining Fogarty for the final four kilometres. He pushed her wheelchair for one kilometre to represent each decade she has lived with the condition. Creators of the documentary described the feature as a moving celebration of community, human connection, and the resilience required to live life entirely on one's own terms.
Since early screenings, the project has drawn considerable praise from viewers and critics alike. Early reviews on platforms like Letterboxd have highlighted its honest and informative perspective, with audiences describing the work as a poignant exploration of hope, compassion, and kindness. Supporters noted that the film serves as a powerful reminder to appreciate the everyday moments and relationships that make life meaningful.
