Carolin Kebekus has been named the new host of LOL: Last One Laughing for its eighth season, taking over from Michael 'Bully' Herbig, who is departing the show after seven seasons. The announcement was made by Prime Video, confirming that Kebekus will sit behind the buzzer and attempt to provoke laughter from the competing comedians.
Herbig had been a central figure since the show's first season, though he was already absent from the monitoring room during season seven. In that season, he was temporarily replaced by Hape Kerkeling in his Horst Schlämmer persona, and the spin-off LOL: Next was hosted by Hazel Brugger instead of Herbig.
Now, Prime Video has confirmed that Herbig will not return for season eight. Kebekus, who has participated in the show four times previously, expressed excitement about the role, saying she looks forward to finally being able to laugh freely in the studio.
In a statement, Herbig thanked the show and its team, reflecting on his five years of involvement across seven seasons, a Christmas special, and a Halloween special. He wished Kebekus and the future cast the same joy he experienced.
The eighth season of LOL: Last One Laughing is set to premiere around Easter 2027. As in previous seasons, six episodes will feature comedians challenged to avoid laughing, with elimination for those who fail. The full lineup of participants for the upcoming season has not yet been disclosed.
