In a recent podcast appearance, Sophie Cunningham outlined a busy off‑season schedule that began with a trip to the Circuit of The Americas in Austin for the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix.

She then said she would travel to Los Angeles for business meetings, attend a live episode of Dancing with the Stars with her sister Lindsey, film a commercial in Phoenix, and finish the week with a brief stint in New York for additional work.

She expressed confidence in her dancing, noting that she has long enjoyed dancing and has shared TikTok videos that showcase her moves. She said she would "kill it" if she appeared on the show, but filming would likely start in September, making it difficult to commit.

If she were to appear, she would be the second WNBA player to compete on the program, following Dallas Wings star Arike Ogunbowale in 2018.

Cunningham’s future with the Indiana Fever is uncertain. She signed a one‑year contract for the 2026 season and is now an unrestricted free agent. Her 2026 campaign saw her average 7.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, with a 46.0% field‑goal percentage and 41.9% from beyond the arc.

The season was also marred by controversy when Cunningham publicly questioned the inclusion of transgender athletes in women’s sports. Her comments drew criticism from former NBA players and sparked protests outside Fever games, adding to the uncertainty surrounding her return to the franchise.

Fever general manager Amber Cox had previously indicated that the team would consider re‑signing Cunningham, stating that external factors would not influence the decision. Cox has since been dismissed, and the franchise has not yet confirmed whether it will pursue the player in free agency. The decision now rests with the incoming general manager, and Cunningham’s upcoming trips to Los Angeles and New York may be related to negotiations or outreach to potential suitors.

As the off‑season progresses, fans and analysts will watch closely to see whether Cunningham’s off‑court ventures—particularly the potential reality‑TV appearance—will coincide with a new team agreement or a return to the Fever roster.
